My name is Luka Jelušić. I am a landscape architect and a furniture maker. Besides making, I’m interested in theory of craft, both in sense of traditions as well as innovations in craft. I tend to create pieces of furniture that are simple, warm, not blatantly designed, pieces that someone would feel close to as you can feel closeness to rural architecture.
I create furniture I want to have in my own house. I have written in my notebook a quote by Bruce Mau about that:
In the early days of publishing, designers were both publishers and producers. They would produce their own things, projects that they believed in either commercially or culturally. The idea of design detached from the production of content is a relatively recent phenomenon. In the big historical sweep, it is tied to Fordism and Taylorism and the whole idea of specialization and the abstraction of the work process.
